To carry a loaded handgun in Maryland, state law requires that you must first have a Handgun Permit (HGP) issued by the Maryland State Police. You must first complete a 16-hour training course with a Qualified Handgun Instructor prior to permit application. This class meets all MSP requirements for licensure and proudly includes comprehensive information necessary to use, carry, and responsibly possess a handgun. In-depth learning and discussions about self-defense law and practical carry skills are central to this course. We will also teach effective learning strategies to ensure you can continue to improve your shooting on your own and vet future instructors should you choose to continue your firearms journey. In addition to handgun and carry skills, a Stop the Bleed course is included to ensure you can respond to life-threatening bleeding for yourself and anyone around.
Guns, ammunition, and protective equipment is provided with the course fee as required.
